How many types of charging connectors are there?
There are 5 types of connectors.
Type 1. For single-phase AC recharging, for a maximum recharging power of about 7.3 kW, corresponding to a maximum current of 32A and a voltage of 230V. It is found only on the vehicle.
Type 2. Used for single-phase or three-phase AC recharging up to 63A, for a maximum power of 43 kW. It can be found both on the vehicle and on the charging column.
Type 3. It can be of two types: 3A (used in Italy) and 3C (used in France). Type 3A is powered in single-phase 16A for a maximum power of 3 kW. These are found only on the column.
Chademo type. It is the standard for fast DC charging and can deliver power up to 50 kW at a voltage of 500V and 125A DC current with connectors sized to withstand even up to 100 kW of power.
Combo Type 2. It is the connector for DC charging and can exceed a power of 100 kW. It can also be used for slow charging, incorporating the Type 2 connector.
