FAQ on tax aspects
What is the vehicle property tax?The vehicle property tax is a regional (or, in limited circumstances, provincial) tax to be paid by the owner of a vehicle as identified in the PRA - Public Register of Automobiles. Vehicle property tax must be paid on a yearly basis, regardless of whether the vehicle is used on the road, by each vehicle owner (except in the case of long-term lease, due to the reform pursuant to Italian Legislative Decree no. 124/2019). The amount to be paid varies depending on the kW of power or the load capacity of the vehicle, as well as its environmental impact. The amount of the tax to be paid each year may also vary from one Italian Region to the next, as each Region uses specific reference parameters to determine it.
